Question Do we have to get our GS4 oil changed at the Dealership? Or can we go anywhere

I know that if i go somewhere else, the oil filter will not be a Lexus OEM Brand, but will that matter? Does the dealer do anything else different during an oil change?

Lexus uses the same filter that Toyota uses on the Tundra truck.

No, it doesnt matter. For someone like myself I hate paying people to do something that I am more than capable of doing myself. I use FRAM double guard on my car, and like stated earlier in this post there really is no difference. I stick with CASTROL 5W-30 though, since that is what they use in the dealership shops. IMO it ends up saying you time and money, buying a case of oil for the first change will make you wonder why you didnt just pay 30 bucks to have Lexus do it, but by the second oil change you'll notice the savings =). good luck.

You can bring your own oil filter to be used.

A lot of people recommend the Toyota/Lexus filter with part number 90915-20004.

Be careful because some dealers will provide you with an updated part number for that 90915-20004 which is a filter with paper element.

I get mine for $6.77 each + shipping from my discount Toyota parts guy. You can use 90915-20004 on both V8 and I6 engines.

Take a look at this link comparing filters:

http://minimopar.net/oilfilterstudy.html

They don't have good things to report about Fram extra guard filters.

Castrol is number 2 on my oil list. Mobil 1 is always the way to go.
