Oil on MAF
Hi All,
I got a little overzealous about oiling my K & N Flter and got some oil on my MAF. Anyone know how I can seafely clean it off. Thanks.

Haven't done it yet but may do it soon. Been using the K&N drop-in filter for about 2.5 years and cleaned/oiled the filter several times. Car is running fine but I may check the sensor this weekend to see if shows any sign of oil on the MAF from the filter.
From what I can find on the web most use Carb Cleaner (spray) or 99% Isopropanal Alcohol (not to confuse with the rubbing 70% Isopropanal Alcohol or rubbing alcohol). Do a search in Google.com using the search text "Cleaning MAF". There are several hits regarding cleaning procedures. I may use the 99% Isopropanal method as I have several gallons in my office.

Sensor Safe Cleaner
A few years ago CRC made a spray Throttle Body cleaner that could be used on MAFs. I would try to find this or something equivalent. If you decide to use Carb Cleaner, make sure it is sensor safe. Some cleaners can melt plastic.

Hey Guys,
I was thinking the same thing about the carb cleaner, I need to check if the one I used to clean the Throttle Body will work in this case as well. I keep everyone iformed if everything goes well or if I need a ride

21. Can I use anything other than K&N cleaner and oil?
We recommend that you only use K&N oil and cleaner. K&N air filter oil is a compound of mineral oil blended with special polymers to form a very efficient tack barrier. We have performed tests on numerous oil combinations and our blend has the required properties for maximum flow and filtration. Petroleum products such as transmission fluid and motor oil will soften and destroy the rubber sealing edges. Our cleaner is a non-detergent degreaser. Solvents and gasoline will harden the rubber seals causing the filter to distort (shrink). A mild detergent can be used in a pinch, but care should be taken to fully rinse it out. Rinsing detergent out of a filter is similar to getting soap out of a sponge; it’s not that easy to do. Always make sure the filter is completely dry before re-oiling.

Lexus told me three times, brake dust cleaner, brake dust cleaner, brake dust cleaner.
I actually rub a little thinner in a cloth and gently rub the top of the K&N filter as the oil there serves no purpose.
