ES330 Seat Gremlins
I bought a used 2004 ES330 with a bad power seat. All the seat adjustments fail to work so I suspected lack of power. The seat fuse is fine (the passenger side works), and I confirmed that there's 12v power in the master plug that goes into the seat.
So I bought a junk yard seat (from a 2005), which we confirmed was working because applying 12v power got the seat to move. Now we after installing the junk yard seat, the same seat does not work - it has the same problems as the old seat.
I'm thinking there might be a short in my car, or that the new seat needs to be reset for the computer to recognize it. Hoping someone here has some ideas. I don't want to resort to putting manual Camry seats in my car... LOL
Other clues: the old seat's tracks appear stuck. The motor that moved it forward/back does turn when we applied power to it (@ no load), though it might have been damaged when the track got stuck. The power leads going into this motor showed no voltage when tested with multi-meter and switch was engaged. I swapped the switch controller between the old and junk yard seat, and nothing changed.
