Requires removing on the center dash piece and piggy backing off of the 12v cigarette lighter charging port.

Full Disclosure... The unit has always generated heat so I thought it was broken but after I switched to another wireless charging pad (usb one) it also got hot. So I don't believe there's anything wrong with it.

I had no issues with the unit charging my iPhone XR.   Just having a wireless charging pad/base in the center console create heat, I suppose.
