Sound dampening material / insulation
Hey guys I had to buy way more of this stuff than I need. What happend was O. L. T. suggested using home insulation to dampen noise without adding a lot of weight, but I didn't want to mess with something that contains fiberglass, especially since you have to cut it down because home insulation is normally 3" thick.

So I found this stuff made of environmentally-safe cotton fiber.

I had to buy 10 rolls of it and I only used one. I spent over $65. I'd like to sell the rest at $7 a roll which does not include shipping but will include the box I will have to buy to ship it to you.
One roll is more than enough for one car. The time consuming part is cutting it down from its initial thickness, but it is not a messy job and it holds together very well even in thin layers. I used a pair of scissors for this.
I hope some of you might be able to use it; this is not a product you will find at your typical home improvement store, as you can see if you check out their list of suppliers.
In this pic you can see the spray adhesive I used and a very HQ Honda Civic carpet ready to be worked on. Sorry about the blurriness.
Thanks.

How has it reduced the noise in your car? Significantly? Please tell us your experiences.
I am interested in buying three rolls. Let me know what the total cost cost would be to ship three rols to Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Well, I haven't finished putting the car back together because I am missing a clip that holds down the rear deck. I would also like to point out that this material also takes care of rattles quite well. I am cutting it into thin strips and placing it between the rear deck and the frame of the car.
I'll take some pics.

You would have to cut it pretty thin to go behind the headliner. These pics will give you a good idea of how it can be used.
Here are some pics of the work I did in the trunk of the Civc, where most of the road noise and rattles come from. I put a thin layer under the rear seats, too, and under the carpet.
Shipping is $5 for one roll through USPS. For two it would depend on how small of a box I could get them into.

Id just like to chime in on it. I picked up a couple rolls a while ago and it works great. System isnt in yet but the reduced road noise is wonderful. So far i have used it in the tranny hump, the trunklid, trunk, behind the rear seats and a little under the carpet. The car sounds much more solid and quiet. I may be picking up a couple more rolls soon for another car. Thanks.
