Default WTB: Front Door Speaker for 98 GS 400.

The speaker for the driver front door just crapped out, stopped working the other day. I'm looking for the OEM replacement (98 GS400 with Nachamichi Stereo). Any one out there with a spare laying around? Thanks, Matt.

Quick question, and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but do either of you know whether the Nakamichi speakers are plug and play compatible with the Pioneer system. In other words, assuming you have a Nakamichi door speaker with enclosure, would the Nak speaker plug into the existing plug/wiring?

Well, does that mean it won't work? Over the summer, I installed Boston Acoustic 6.5s in the front doors. They were also 4 ohms. They sounded average at best, so I took them out and put the stock speakers back in. Anyway, assuming the plugs matched up, do you think the Nak speakers would be any noticeable improvement over the stock Pioneers?

not witrh the pioneer amp only pushing 2 ohms. all 4 ohm speakers will sound average at best. you would have to switch to nakamichi amp to have the nak speakers sound better. not an easy switch as the nak amp too big for dash mount like the pioneer amp.

Tell me about it. I've been fighting this stereo since the day I bought the car. My last car, a 99 ES300, had the Nakamichi upgrade, and it sounded great. I didn't think it would make that big of a difference, so when I found this 98 GS400 with low miles, in mint condition, and in the color I wanted, I jumped at it, even though it has the standard Pioneer system. CD's sound pretty good, but the radio sounds awful at times. I don't know if it's the reception, but sometimes the midrange sounds fluttery (that's the best way I could describe it). Maybe it's the amp. It's certainly not the head unit as Lexus replaced it with a brand new one over the summer (good will).
