Has anyone used the certificate at a dealership yet. After getting the final price from my dealer, I showed them the certificate and they said that the certificate is good however they believe that in NY State, I would still have to pay the sales tax on the $750.00. Does that sound right?

only applies to if you purchase a new car, and yes you'll probably have the tax from the $750 deducted, leaving you with total savings of $685

hahahahaha I remember those "coupons" so basically the dealership will quote you $36,000 for your car when you could have gotten it for $35,000. Then Sly you, presents that coupon and the dealer smiles, accepts it and walks away making +$250 on the deal

I asked the sales guy who sold me my car, he said thats how it works. they will just quote you a little higher to account for any floating coupons out there.

Thats why you dont metion the coupon until you have already negotiated the price to the lowest possible.

I got the certificate too...but guess what. It said "except the 2008 LS460" Well thats great, thats the only car we were going to buy. LoL

So has anyone actually used the $750.00 coupon in NY yet? If so, did they deduct the sales tax out of the $750.00?
