Is Window Tint primary enforcement in NY
Got a fucxkzing TINT ticket today, and this was the sole reason he pulled me over...are tint laws primary enforcement in NYS? If not, any proof from the Vehicle and Traffic Law?

A few state trooopers have lost their lives due to pulling people over and approaching a car with tint and the driver just shoots the cop and takes off. This has happened in a few states so they try to enforce tint laws for this purpose and they probably have a quota to fulfill as well.

from what i understand cops don't have a quota... not really... the way that it's enforced is that their commanding officer gives them a nudge and says... "hey looks like you might need to give out a little bit more tickets" police officers make $20 a ticket and i don't know how much the station makes off of it but... that's all i know...
this rambling ended up having nothing to do with your thread sorry

Locally around my house...not even suffolk police, local Village police which means I have to go to court no matter what, even if it is to just pay the fine..

DONT pay the fine...
Go find a tint shop and ask for a 'tint removed' receipt within the next week and take it to the judge on your court date. If you go back to where you had the tints installed, they should do it for free since they have no liability because they can always say you just put the tint back on after they removed it.
And as for your question, yes it is a primary enforcement violation.

unfortunately the place that I had them tinted at 4 years ago no longer exists...can I go to any tint shop and ask for this receipt? Seems kind of weird to just walk in and ask for that...

Raj, then go with someone who had tint done recently (my shop is in the Bx) and let them get the receipt for you. The receipt will not have your name, car or any other info on it so it won't really make a difference. I can walk into the place where I had my tint done two years ago and ask for a receipt and I'm sure they don't remember me from a hole in the wall but they had no problem giving me the 'removal' receipt and on top of that no one in the shop spoke English so it was 2nd nature to them.
You just need a receipt from a shop that says "Tint Removal" and a price for it to be authentic. The key is to ensure the receipt dated within a week to two weeks of getting the ticket or the judge will likely not honor it. Most shops that offer 'guarantees' are used to people coming back and asking for the receipts so it's not a big deal to them. Like I said, there are no liability issues because by the time your court date will come up you could have easily had the tint replaced somewhere else.
NEVER EVER pay a ticket without putting up some type of fight for it. They can't add on to the fine as a result of you fighting it so you're in a no lose situation.

Just be aware of your neighborhood. I know of places, certain intersections to avoid due to police check points at certains times of the month. I got my first tint ticket in 14 years about a year ago. It gave me an excuse to have my tints redone as I was planning on doing it for awhile. I got new tints, got the receipt for the removal and went to court.

Oohpapi...I owe you big time man...you just saved me over $150 (according to the court, this is what the fine would have been NOT including court surcharge). I went to my local tint guy and told him...he said most courts nowadays are requiring pictures of the tintless car AND a receipt. He said he knows for a fact that if it were a Suffolk Police ticket they require photos. Since I got a village ticket, Ic alled them and they said all they need is the receipt. He wrote me one on the spot at no charge
I owe you big time!
