Tint question: How dark should I go? 40% or 30%
I finally got those temp tags off, but to get them off I had to take the tint off of all the windows. Now I feel naked without any temp and I need some suggestions as to how dark I should go. I know that 35% is legal and my tint just missed the mark during inspection even though it seemed light as hell. I don't want to draw too much attention by the police, but I still want it to have some color especially since the car is black. My choices are 40% or 30% film... Thanks people.

are you kidding? in New York its 70%...when the cop puts his meter on your window, it must read 70 in NY. This means thats 70% of light must pass through.

put on 35% keep it looking classy and never have to worry about taking it off or putting it back on again...
if you go lower... get a doctors note... (people do this) and never have to worry ever again.
Pa's 70% also... but i know what areas to avoid... they only enforce it in certain areas.
i have 35% on my IS. I hate it when you look over and someone is able to see you... if it's just the outline of your head and shoulders it's okay but when they could see your eyes... go darker.

i remember i got a ticket for 5%, i wouldnt let the cop put the meter on it because i didnt want him to scratch it at first, so i told him straight up that it was 5%. Finally he forced me to put the window up and this story can end here.
35% is nice, its classy and gives you just enough privacy. Anything lower and cops will start to bother you, but if you aint ridin dirtay I would say go lower. I had 15% on the LS430 for a while, was very nice.

Thanks for all the suggestions people. I only have two choices. Well actually three. But I think 20% would be way to dark and I think I'd get a work order after about a month or two driving in Columbia. I would love to go with 35% like you said Jimmy, but he doesn't carry it. Either way, it would still be too dark because of the tint that the vehicle already has on it. 30% will be my choice. I have a shop in mind in the Laurel area, but if you guys know of any in the Columbia or Baltimore area that's good that will charge $160.00 or lower, let me know.

I would do 35%. Not: There are different 35% films. Solarguard, 3M 35% look similar. i have Huper optik 35% which has a ceramic coating embedded in the film. It also appears lighter than standard 35% but costs more money.

Exit 15 is a hike, but on a Saturday or Sunday morning wouldn't be bad. Do you happen to know the name of the place and what type of film do they use? Thanks
