Pricing for pipe work in NY
Ok so I have nearly everything for the turbo and we did some mocking up of how we're going to mount everything up and we did some pipe cutting...
For those of you guys who have done your piping work down at shea. What would they normally charge for:
1. Clean up and weld 3-5 pieces of pipe (Already have the pipe and its cut)
2. Weld on O2 bung
3. Weld on Wastegate flanges + piping
4. Build down pipe and weld flange onto down pipe
5. Build up pipe and weld flange onto up pipe
6. Full exhaust (Already have muffler and cat)
I think thats everything...
The down pipe is going to be very simple.
All the piping is 2.5 inches.
I may be heading down there on friday to get everything done, and if the emanage comes in on friday then I will be boosting by either sunday or monday if the tuning works out.
Thanks!

Ok so I went down to shea today to get the pipe done. They put the car up on the lift and he's looking at the Y-pipe that I have... Then he tells me that it's to much work and can't be done... WTF?
Its a simple 180* bend then straight to the front and a 90* bend up to the turbo... How is that hard?
He says mumbles something about V-Block and 6 cylinder. I told him I dont need a custom y-pipe, just pull the exhuast and route it up to the turbo.
I tried 3 different shops and they all gave me a different story. One says too much work another says they can't do it and the other does know anything. It's not even about the money, I said do it and ill pay.
We explained everything pretty clearly, the engine bay had more than enough space to route the piping... I don't see what the big deal is. They didnt have to make a new Y-Pipe either...
We decided to bring my friends welder out and have a go at it. After which we'll take it back to a shop and have them install the exhaust, hopefully it wont be "too hard"

I've got a guy to do ALL your Piping! Very reasonable rates and he has mandral piping if you wish. We're fabbing a complete exhaust (Turbo to Y-pipe to Mufflers) plus complete intercooler piping. Give me a call and I'll give you the info.
BTW.. Just to gauge... He charges me 1/3 what RJ piping charges for the same work!
