IMHO Historically the cheapest and best for beginners has been the BMW Club of America driving schools. MUCH cheaper than just about every formal driving school and usually very good instruction (albeit volunteer). Especially for beginners. If you catch the track virus bug and really need to do events regularly, they host autocross and track events in most areas of the country. BMWCA (unlike Porsche clubs) lets anyone join and then driving/track events are cheaper. You'll probably get special treatment because all of the instructors will want to check out your car. This has been my experience in the past.

Ok guys keep it friendly. Um, bruh, let me save you some money. Just jump into ANY NELOC caravan when they are heading on a road trip. You survive that, and you can defensively drive anywhere. LOL!!!!

I hope this was a joke. I live in Kew Gardens and take that highway every day to pick up a co worker to the city.
Any A*****e trying to improve his racing skills on that road will crash without a doubt. I myself will do my best to stop him .
That road has seen lots and lots of accidents, some lethal. The tarmac is very slippery when wet, VERY slippery. The S turns around the cemetery are the worst. You really have to know the road by hard, and even then, you cannt see the broken down cars around the bend. I have seen a few times, cars go off the road right into the grave site taking out the toombstones, I cannt imagine how bad the family of that relative must have felt.

I am against street racing, unless its in the armpit of LIC or Bronx or some other hole. Now im no saint, I used to do all kinds of dumb things when i was 20, but at 29, reality sets in and you see things from a different angle.

I respect the original posters interest in finding a valid track school.I myslef would love participate in it, but with a 98 LS, the only thing I'll get done is shave my rear tires in one race.

Great post, however please try to tone it down a little bit in here as we try to up the level of respect in NELOC versus other forums. You can get your point across without the attitude.

I did not intend to offend anyone.
I just hate seeing people do stupid things on public roads hurting others in the end.
I too long for higher speed limits and better roads and less road traffic. I wish we had better developed racing programs in NY.

With that said, sending lots of safety to all here and not here.
