It seems to me that a lot of people are upset that newbies that are joining or even people who've been here a while don't understand all that NELOC should be. So, as to suggestions for improvement (since i can't attend the roundtable meet, family obligations) and to keep this thread on track, i have a few, corny as some might be:

1. Create a mission statement for NELOC (i think this is extremely important, for every reason that you can think of regarding what NELOC "really is")
2. Create formats and guidelines for meet threads/meet suggestions (large/small/mega/impromptu/meet n greet/maintenance days/rules therein)
- how a meet should be set up. A standard way to display information, etc
3. (While this may be controversial) I believe area leaders (multiple) are a good idea, preferably OGs/dedicated members. We practically already have it that way, making it official channels the proper questions to the proper people.
4. RELAX! We do this for fun because we enjoy the comraderie. Why does anyone need to crawl up anyone's @$$? its really unnecessary and totally defeats the purpose.
5. Make a sticky for new members to read all these guidelines that will be developed (including how to become a member because no one ever knows in the beginning) so those that come from now on know what the deal is.

could someone print this post and brings it to the roundtable for me?
i know i should've just PM'd it to a mod, but i started typing and I didn't wanna stop

Is NELOC the most hostile group...
I'm from the North East, so I understand... Passion...others may not.
This is getting off track, some where, someone was asking for suggestions to better NELOC , I thought it would have a more positive flow.

Lexatlast,

First I want to commend you for the comments that you have over the concerns with NELOC in it's present condition. As Leroy stated, props to you bro . Secondly, the suggestions in which you have listed are not corny, silly, etc., as these are some of the things in which are being pondered over and addressed. I am not trying to take any credit away from you on your suggestions, it has come up before. I want you to understand that as a newly appointed mod, i am listening, observing, and formulating very carefully ALOT of ideas which will help us to improve, pending approval from the CL higher ups, and the suggestions you have listed are a few of them. It takes a little time to properly address some of the topics and present them in a manner which is fair for almost everyone involved. You topics will be relayed at the roundtable meet.

A questions you should be asking yourselves prior to the Round table discussion, building on Lexatlast's key points:

"What makes NELOC any different from the original Club Lexus NorthEast forum?"

For most, because alot of the original members who were in the NorthEast forum are no longer here, Neloc is one of their first interactions. While the door to the North East forum is STILL open, even there alot of the original members are long since gone. This is a whole new breed of members, and a totally different class of people. I,, myself, can only READ about what the Northeast forum USED to be; and I can certainly assure you that even now it too has deterioriated from what it USED to be. We have alot of younger folks who are either just getting their first lexus, recycling mom/dad's old car, etc. and therefore have little to no idea of what it used to be. The only things that they know is what they gather from either a long day of search, or from older/OG members who actually take the time to sit down and talk to them; educate them on the very values and cores of the past and what the present needs to hold for the organization that we call NELOC. The one thing that needs to be realized is that NELOC is NOT the Northeast forum. While it was developed using ALOT of the ideals and principals from them, the original goal was to create a closer, tighter knit, grouping of individuals who truly had a love and appreciation for their cars; as well as the people behind them. THIS is what sets' Neloc apart from all other clubs!!!! Now the true question has been stated in the title of this thread,,"HOW CAN NELOC IMPROVE???"

Those are some pretty valid points, I must say. Taking a second look, I didnt realize how many older members are not active on the forums any longer. I guess to contribute to the question "How can NELOC improve?" We would have to identify who are the actual members of this club and how were/are they inducted. How would you identify a NELOC member from lets say any lexus enthusiast in the NorthEast that browses and posts on the NELOC forum.

We do have a method of inducting members. It's the three meet rule, which basically means that all anyone has to do is attend 3 meets. Once someone new has attended their 3 meets, they will receive NELOC decals and are officially members. Though it's not a over complicated initiation, but it does work. People pop in and ask all the time how to join. Once we tell them, they usually say something like 3 meets no problem and then you never see them. The 3 meet rule does work for the most part from what I've seen, however it should be a sticky that potential new members can be directed to whenever they want to know how to join.

Hmmm this make a lot of sense and its simple. If you stick around for 3 meets (which most sometimers dont) your in. Is that how you joined TL? showed up 3x
