Cool Need to have springs installed in the D.C area

Hey guys...

I have some springs for my GS that i've been wanting to install for sometime, but with no luck.

I actually started this thread a few months ago:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=340441

that eventually turned into something great with the help of fellow NELOC members and RolxuSC400's generosity. Unfortunately, my springs had some unforeseen issues through the mail system and never made it on time to be installed at the meet.

Anyhow... I've called shops in the area and have collected some scary quotes, a small shop even had the guts to quote me $1000 just for labor . So I decided to try and tackle it on my own since it doesn't seem that complex. However, another set of hands would be extremely helpful.

If anyone feels like lending a hand, I will be more than glad to compensate you (monetarily, food, etc). I can either come to you, or we can do it at my place (I'm in Vienna, VA)

Or if you know place you can suggest, feel free to do so. Thanks.

Current pic of the GS:

When are you going to try and do this ? I can 'try' to help you ... I have only changed springs in the following cars though 87 Mustang, 91 Galant VR-4 (two different cars), 92 Eclipse GSX.

I've got to do springs in my 01 GS4 as well.

Let me know when you are planning to tackle this and I'll offer what ever help/tools that I can.

Sup Man!

I'd be happy to donate my space and tools and time...but my expertise is limited on the GS. I would however love to watch and help so I can learn.

i'd gladly help too..we should make a tech day out of this. are you planning on using stock shocks or aftermarket. aftermarket would make installing the alittle easier. wont need a spring compressor...

Thank you for responding. We could really use your help I drive the car often, so i would really like to preserve the ride as much as possible. I'm planning on switching over to eibach springs. Its a conservative drop of about 1.x inch or so all around, so i can really get away with using stock shocks (I've acquired a new set).

i could help you out as well with space and tools,
i just moved in with one of my buddies into a townhouse and got a 2 car garage now. no air tools... yet (hoopefully very soon), but all the other goodies.

I did mine at marks and it went pretty smooth. just be sure to start nice and early.

howd those control arms go mark, i was thinking of doing mine. did u go with the tt ones or just oem SC ones?

oh and i used my stock shocks with aftermarket springs. my shocks were ok so it works cause i went with the tanabe (1" only similar to eibach) and the ride is still good. but thining back i kinda wish i had done the shocks because when there is a lot of weight in my car now (3-4 people), it really does not like the turns so much.
just fyi. the biggest pain is the labor, you wont want to do it twice.

We are likely gonna start between 9:30 and 10am at the latest just in case.

Used the supra ones. Control arms were fine had one camber bolt seize on me and I had to order that so took a bit longer since wasnt in stock but I also took my time and replaced the front lip too. Wish I had changed my springs and shocks at the same time but gives me a project for the 2nd Annual Wrench Fest 2009

Dog gone it,, I almost missed this. Was home this weekend, and could have come down to lend a hand as well. You might want to get hold of Rare1 and/or LilGZ (hushand and wife), I helped them to do his (Rare1's) a few months back in his garage. Took a few hours but not too bad as long as all of the tools are present. Knowing Rolexus,, he has more tools than most fully equipped shops. LOL!!!!

Yup, tools are at the ready! Only have one man down...the torque wrench bit the dust during my control arm install other than that I am at the ready.

As I told Moe the only days not looking good are next Sunday 9/28 for BBQ and weekend of October 18th all else looks good. Hope its as nice as it was today!

BTW - i also plan to make the Wrench Fest an annual event whether folks do any work or not so this wont be the only time for wrench time to get stuff done. The plan will always be to hold it before Carlisle so folks can work some magic prior to the event.
