The Airsoft I am talking about is the 6mm plastic BB variety. The guns are usually MP5, M16/M4 variants at the two local indoor places. They are battery operated ... a piston is recoiled against a spring by an electric motor, when its released is compresses air in a chamber and produces enough force to 'fire' the BB at approx 300 ft. I think AirsoftCQB rents gas pistols but you owuld pay more since you would have to buy gas as well.
YES you do feel it when you get hit ! However is doesn't hurt or welt like a paintball because the mass of the BB is so much less than that of a paintball.
The indoor fields are the typical room to room action ..... I'm not too much of an indoor player myself but with this crew I think it would be a blast (pun intended).

Curious, maybe Dave said this but do you have to be an NRA member to use their facility? Also are these ranges....bring what you can hold onto? I say that cuz thats the reason I stopped going to Warrenton there was no etiquette and people were shooting stuff they had no business bringing there.

@ the NRA HQ Range:
• You do NOT have to be an NRA member to shoot there. You will pay $18/lane/hr (NRA Members pay $14/ln/hr)
• You DO have to pass the (very easy) written test. Upon passing the test you will be issued Range card (free) which just proves you took the test for subsequent visits.
• All pistol calibers and centerfire rifle up to .460 Weatherby Magnum!
As far as a$$hattery at the range goes like I have said before the "Red Shirts" = Range Safety Officers will remove any/all idiots with a swift kick to the *** at a moments notice
More info here: NRA Shooting Range
