ahh another fellow mechanical engineer. i see you wanna get into automotive engineering. same path i took...its a lot harder than i thought it would be...biggest advice? get involved in your formula sae or your mini-baja team. and learn catia. i have a contact at honda r&d in ohio...didnt get the job there but lemme know i can hook you up with it. as for your resume...i would focus on classes you took at NJIT rather than any courses during high school. i know some of the hs classes are related but i think companies/people are more interested in what you have completed during your college years. your objective is redundant...youre pretty much say the same exact thing twice.. except in different words. theyll see right through this...you gotta cut the BS. i would take out the second part of the objective and replace it with a basic summary of skills like good communication or leadership skills. something along those lines. the section "area of expertise", you can pretty much add most of that as your objective. you dont need a separate section for it. hmmm normally with your experience youre supposed to list down what you did rather than write a paragraph. you want to give all the information as quickly as possible while giving them the best summary of your experiences. and list your activities. haha i cant go on...id pretty much change your whole resume.

the new one is a lot better....ill try and get you the contact info for honda r&d tonight. well the job is pretty nice...theres a bunch of depts you can work in. interior, chassis, suspension, safety, durability, ergonomics, etc. all i heard is that engine is the most difficult one to get into and an opening is extremely rare so i wouldnt put your hopes up on that one. they bring you in for a campus event so youre there with a bunch of other engineers from schools around the country. they fly you in if needed, pay for your food, room, and whatever expenses you got while youre there. the first day you pretty much tour the place...its huge and very impressive. you get to see a lot...testing, new models that havent even been released, the crash test site, tons of parts...almost everything. then people from each department that is looking for people get up and give presentations. usually the department is hiring 1 or 2 people...rarely more. then you pick which depts you want to interview for and go for it...unfortunately i picked the hardest ones to interview for chassis, suspension, durability. i thought i had good credentials, but not as good as some of the other people there so i didnt get any of them. i really cant tell you about each job...cause theres so many of them but one of the things that kinda made me glad i didnt get it was the surrounding area. honestly....the biggest city nearest there is columbus...and i dont even consider that a city. its quiet suburban/urban area. the one thing that would have swayed my decision...to be part of the honda race team. which you dont get paid for being a part of...its like an extracurricular activity you do after work and the weekends.
