Where to get Supra Auto TT Diff Installed/Shimmed in DC Metro
So after doing my 1jz swap and enjoying beating up my car, the stock rear diff has the shakes and has some play.
I have had a brand new Supra Auto TT LSD I need installed. I do all my own work but for something like this I don't have a damn clue how to shim them properly.
Any suggestions? I am thinking I should simply call up some transmissions shops but would rather get some opinions based on experiences...
Thanks!!!!!!!

i would check SRT near IKEA in MD off of 495 (near 95 N). i think they do all sorts of things like this primarily for lex.
also a shop off of Pulaski in Baltimore named JE does good work (they do everything from an intake to a full drift car), but their customer service/ scheduling is a little lacking. the owner james evans hence the JE is a really cool guy.

what do you mean by shim exactly.
swapping out the entire diff isnt bad at all.
or do you mean you need to open it up and transplant it?
If you have the whole auto TT pumpkin, it will go in after swapping the pinion flange.
much easier than transplanting it, and you can bolt it together yourself.
my experience is you would have to take it to a racing or customs shop.
your local mechanic will not be putting other cars diff's into yours because of liability.

Wish it was that easy...I could and would have done it already. It is a brand new TRD Auto TT LSD Gearset. I just need it put in the pumpkin and shimmed appropriately. In order to properly install a gearset you need to shim it to specifications otherwise it will burn up the gears and go BOOM very quickly...like within probably a mile or 2.

check with ISP.. they are a few blocks from SRT. Peter will take care of you. I think its about 5 hours labor for the whole install. im taking mine there when i decide to cough up the money for a lsd..

lol, i see now. what made you go with the new TT auto lsd vs a kaaz 2 way?
It is actually cheaper and is a full 2 way lsd.
anyways, have you tried checking the service manual? If I get some time later on I will take a look at it. sometimes these things sound harder than they really are.

TRD is best choice IMHO for smoothness and noise wise, KAZZ is not very streetable except for a few of you who like to drive herky jerky. 1.5 is what I am looking at getting. Need to enjoy my ride, a SC I drove with KAZZ was not fun to drive. MVP has a install kit I think for the LSD into SC. I recommend SRT or ISP for the work.

Not that it's harsh, it is locked all the time. Lets say you engine brake well you can actually chirpi the the wheels from engaging and disengaging the clutch it's like the wheels are connected as 1 piece to the transmission. Great for drifting but for me, 1.5 is more streetable, I don't Need a LSD fully engage while backing up or making turns. But alot of peeps love it, I am sure you will. I am old.
