Basically, it will cost EVERYONE of NYS at some point or another to buy these new plates. That's extra cashflow for the State...which they needed.

New plates were NOT necessary for the public...it's like a government scam...just imposing another charge for something not needed.

Actually it's only partially true. It's called re-plating and there are a number of states who do it. Mostly those who issue plates with a reflective coating who's warranty only lasts for a specific period of time. There are also a number of states who never re-plate (Delaware), we just happen to live in one that does.

Changing the design not only brings in fees but also makes it easier for people who have no insurance or aren't properly registered to get caught (all registrations expire over a 2 year period and at renewal we all will have the new orange plate).

But yeah the design does sucks unless you have a dark colored car (Cat's IS-F/Lambo should bith look spectacular with the new plate).

yea those plates are but *** ugly lucky they have a bunch of other plates u can get like sport plates speaking of which they have a nice dale eardhart one thats white and black looks really kool,or u can get a regional plate atleast we have some options cause if they gonna make me pay more than I just rather pay more for a different plate that i will like
