Default Hose repair

I've read a ton of threads where people say to just take your high pressure power steering line to a "hose shop" and get it repaired. Well, where exactly is one of those "hose shops"? I stopped at a Napa the other day and they said there is NO ONE who will touch import high pressure lines because they are metric.

So I was just wondering where I could get mine repaired at in the DFW area, or if it was even possible. I've currently got a Driftmotion steel braided line on my car but I'd rather have my stock line back on there.

Any suggestions?

Goto a shop over in Garland. They're called Hose Fast. They usually have most of the metric stuff in stock and they can build pretty much any hydrauilc hose you throw at them.

Sweet you got it done. That looks great. How much did they charge? No more whining?

It cost $150 to have it fixed like that.

I put it back on with a new powersteering pump and the car whines like a beotch! I've bled the lines twice. I'm about to go out and f-ing shoot it.

How are you bleeding it? You need to lift the front wheels off the ground and turn the steering wheel back and forth from end to end several times with the car running. Thast will get most of the air out of the system. Set the vehicle back on the ground and drive it for 5-10 miles. Works every time for me.

...If it still whines you have a defective pump, or a restriction somewhere. (believe me, ive seen countless defective pumps that are brand new)

You are using Dexron ATF for p/s fluid correct?

(Wanna sell your driftmotion braided line?)

Most pumps cavitate if they are dry. You have to let it run and let it settle then do it. If you completely drained your rack/pump then yea its gonna take a while and it will whine like a bat out of hell.

I didn't try lifting the front end. Hmmm. Yep on the Dextron too.

Oh, and yes I'd be willing to sell the DM braided line. Shoot me a pm.

Just to follow up on this...

I ended up putting the old power steering pump back on the car and the whining stopped. So the "new" pump turned out to be no good.

That car was totaled on May 24th by a hail storm here in Texas so I no longer have it.
Got me a 2000 model SC3 now.
