Default Anyone here gotten the valve spring TSIB done on their 2IS?

From a DFW-area dealer, of course. I'm tempted, but at the same time... notsomuch. You always hear horror stories about dealerships effing stuff like this up. I myself got the steering pin recall done on my IS350 at Sewell Lexus in Dallas, and ever since then, my steering feels a little wonkey when turning slowly near the center position (there's like this sticking and clicking feel, hard to explain via text). Been thinking about asking them to fix it, actually, so maybe I'm crazy for even considering the valve spring deal.

What are you guys' experiences? And which dealer did you go to?

Good to know, thanks.

I think there was a tech at the IS forum claiming that the work would improve performance, and that it was a noticeable difference. I think that sounds like BS, but have you noticed any difference?

I didn't feel any difference in performance, but I think they have to reset the ECU and that would make your car have to re-learn your driving habits, which may just seem like a performance increase...

lol gay ***. Ive been helping out with the V8's more than the V6's. But what I can tell you is the V8 experience. The spring is a stouter unit compared to the stock one. It is also a bit shorter. Also all the lifters get replaced along with the seals. As for performance I cannot comment on if it improves it. Park place in plano is pretty good about it. The only problem is that you will be waiting in line to get it done. There is quite a list and our techs are really thorough with the job. I have yet to see one come back so far. LOL They only allow certain people to do the recall. I am not one of them I am however learning how to do them.

I just called Sewell Dallas today, they have me in for thursday to get it done, made the appointment yesterday. They also said that they may not have Lexus loaners for everyone, im guessing you'll get loaners from enterprise.

Did mine at park place grapevine. They always have loaners, in my experience. No problems so far yet.

Really? Isn't it a pretty strict Lexus company policy to always provide Lexus loaners?

... I guess now that Lexus has established their reputation as a worthy premium brand, maybe they're starting to relax some of those policies, heh.

Park Place always has loaners. The plano shop is there big one. We occasionally run out of loaners but I have yet to see that happen within the last few months.
