Default Emblem/Badge Removal

Does anyone have experience removing and replacing stock emblems for the black pearl set from Sewell?

I'm debating tackling this project myself or taking it to a body/graphics shop.

Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

You just need floss and GooGone. Use the floss underneath the original emblems to take off. Don't try to take it off in one stroke, you gotta use multiple passes. I usually wear some gloves so the floss doesn't cut my hand.

The GooGone is to take off the remaining goo/glue/rubber that the original emblems leave behind.

So no heat gun required?

I'm debating whether to install the black pearl kit before or after a major detail. I'm leaning toward before at he moment.

I mean you can use a heat gun if you want. It'll just loosen the glue/rubber from the back of the emblems. I usually don't because by the time I get the cord to go far enough, I could have just taken it off with the floss.

I usually use fishing line to take off the actual emblem, then a little goo-gone to take off as much adhesive as possible, then use a DA buffer to remove the rest.

Use 3m Adhesive remover. Spray it on and let it drip onto the emblems and then splash some water on it and put floss underneath.

Pull the floss up while slowly working it under the emblem. If it starts getting a little difficult, stop and spry more adhesive remover and the splash water on there and keep going. Should come off very easily.

the leftover goo and gunk will also come off easy if you spray it with adhesive remover and then press the pad of your thumb on the goo and roll it back and forth while it's wet with the adhesive remover.

The 3m adhesive remover is safe for painted surfaces, but I like to use the water anyways to wash it away when it drips down the car because the first time I had done it was on my last car and I had just blacked out the tailights and they left a stain on the tail-lights and I had to wet sand and re-apply another coat of clear coat to get it out.
