There is plenty of places out here. Peter Lugers is in Brooklyn and HIGHLY recommended. You would need reservations in advance though. W hotel is a great hotel next to EVERYTHING. You should definetly have some fun out here!!

i highly recommend spice
i beleev its on 1st ave. between 73rd/74th
its a thai place fantastic food with reasonable prices.
if youre interested ill give you an exact address
also if you need someone that you can call for random places, directions etc. PM me and ill give you my number. Ill be in the city around that time as well. And if you need a place to watch fireworks my apt. window is great, lol...26th floor with great views

awesome guys, really appreciate the help.

so other than food, how about places that we *should* visit? so far we can think of the following:
- firework (try)
- time square / broadway
- statue of liberty
- financial district / empire state
- chinatown

we are more into scenic places, places that's good for pics and such don't tell me about museums, if any. my wife isn't fond of them, haha

hahahhaa you got a great place for firework on 7/4 man, i hope the rent isn't too outrages (from what i heard rent there is outrages no matter what)

I use to work on Wall St and had a studio apartment in Battery Park City. The rent was $1900 per month plus $600 per month for a parking place. That's more than my mortgage and car payment here in south Jersey !!!

I would also suggest walking around the Village if you like small shops, galleries, and boutiques. Definitely hit Chinatown and Little Italy. Be prepared to walk....and walk....and walk.....

While you're in Manhattan, you may want to pay a visit to the one building and landmark that will never be forgotten: Ground Zero (pre-9/11 World Trade Center). It's located near Battery Park and Broadway.

Some others that may be of interest for taking pics and seeing different things:
- Union Square (located along 14th St. and 3rd Ave.)
- Chelsea Piers (located along Westside Hwy, along the Hudson River)
- Lexus of Manhattan (829 11th Ave., BMW dealership is next door)
- SOHO shopping district (just next to Chinatown)

agreed. so much to do in nyc. You need to be specific in where to go and what to eat. There are many tourist traps in nyc so becareful. Unless that's your cup of tea.

It's called Greenwich Village, located below 14th St. and west of Broadway. It's also one of the most populous areas in the US.

Everone already mentioned Grey's Papaya and Peter Luger's steakhouse.

I also recommend City Crab as well.

In Chinatown, I recommend Congee Village (make sure to order their special soy sauce chicken).

Noodletown is also a great place to eat.

Nightlife in Times Square is great, there are alot of things to do, ESPN zone is a good sports bar to hang out.

Definitely catch a Broadway show.

If you want, you can book a helicopter tour at night and really get a look at the beautiful scenery. It's just breathtaking. Their are also helicopter tour packages that include dinner afterwards on a yacht in the middle of the river.

You're going to have a great time here.

Grey's Papaya is GREAT!!!! There are a few in the city. 72nd & Amsterdamn, 36th St. & 8th Ave.... and I forgot the rest.

Peter Luger's is a fanastic steakhouse but will cost a pretty penny. Plus they dont take credit cards so bring cash if you go.

Another great place to eat in Chinatown is Joe Shanhai's. Get the soup dumplings.

If you can, get a Zagat's guide to NY ahead of time and try to hit as many of the recommended places.
