I'm closing on the new place on August 1st. I thought you were in New Haven?

Are you still moving to Florida?

The closing for my place here in Danbury is on July 29th, and our move-out date to Florida will most likely be during the 1st week of August. So I think we have some time to meet up before I move to FL

cool cool. As you are moving out of the neighborhood I am moving in lol.

by any chance could you tell me the quickest way to stamford from Danbury? I guess I'm looking for a way to avoid traffic during rush hours.... I figured even it's the long way around 95S - 287W - 684N to 84N would be the fastest since they are all major highways but during traffic hours it's probably jammed up.

Any advise would be awesome.

Yeah, you definitely don't want to be on any of those highways, especially 95S and 684S, during the work week. The back roads is the best route to take from Danbury to Stamford. This route usually takes me about 45 minutes to get to Stamford, and absolutely NO traffic to get tied up

I'll give you a more detailed version of the Danbury-Stamford back roads later on.

Route-7South to Meritt Parkway (Rte-15) South to Stamford.. you can avoid some traffic using this route.

i took the Route 7 to Meritt way to test but Merrit is pretty packed most of the time and Route 7 was mostly 2 lane (one lane each way) so it was pretty slow.... any other back ways?

Unfortunately, not. During the morning rush hour, all the traffic around Stamford is headed into Stamford so not matter which route you take, you are bound to get stuck in traffic. Rte-7/Merritt is probably the best compromise in terms of distance/time.

Which part of Stamford do you need to go to? Maybe you could take the Rte-123 or Rte-106 exits on Merritt to save some time.

Dennis,

Rte. 7-South is OK to take during the morning rush (I usually take it to go to work in Wilton CT, about 30-35 min away), but Merritt Pkwy towards Stamford may not be a smooth ride. Always remember this rule of thumb: Morning traffic = into NYC; evening traffic = away from NYC.

Here's the route that I would take to go to Stamford:

7S (~5 mi) to Danbury-Ridgefield line
35W (~11 mi) crossing NY/CT border
124S (~4 mi) to Pound Ridge, NY
137S (~8 mi) to Stamford, CT

I know a lot of commuters take this route, and it works for them. Avg driving time to Stamford = 45 min. No highways, no traffic lights, just spirited driving all the way

I need to get to dolphin cove. I am at the next dock south of Stamford Harbor. I can probably get there through the outskirts of downtown stamford from Merrit exit 36 or so.... the Rte-123 Rte-106 sounds like an awesome combo... looking it at the map...

thanks!
