look what u guys are doing..now i'm thinking about this
i dont really know much about lowering a car..so you have to school me on it..approximate cost? and how much of a drop..1"? do you think this would cause me to scrape my bumpers going in and out of my driveway, especially if its covered with snow? and will this make the ride very stiff and uncomfortable?
gsoup you have to answer all of these questions because you started this

It depends there are two routes... lowering springs/shocks or coilovers.

springs are setup to a specific lowering height and can not be adjusted... for example..

Eibach has a Pro kit for the IS250...
Lowers Vehicle 1.4" Front & 1" Rear

that runs for about $250+ and it should still feel like stock suspension... actually it should feel a bit better...
Eibach springs were used for the now famous "L-Tuned" springs/shocks setup.

now coilovers is a different ball game because they are adjustable...

for example my teins can be dropped up to 3" ...yeah i know thats kind of sick
but my suspension is way stiffer than stock... great for hugging corners and acting up

honestly i would suggest in your case, go with the springs ..that may be a better option for you since its your daily driver... IF YOU decide to drop your car...LMAO

i'll get you some links so that you can read up on it..give me a few....

Goup hasn't been around all day.

Have you picked up the springs already (I'm guessing that the route you decided to go?)

Getting the springs is the hardest part, any reputable shop should be able to do the work fairly easy.

Have your bf get out of the car and measure your lowest clearance point the next time you're going up the driveway, that will tell you how much you can lower the car. If you have 2" of clearance then you'll know that getting springs with a 1.5" drop or less will be okay.

If you go up that infrequently, I'd go ahead with whatever drop I want and worry about finding a 'ramp' to allow you to get into the driveway later. You're car will look and feel so much better with the drop that you'll know it's worth the hassle. I have the same issue with my driveway and went with coilovers so I could adjust accordingly to the grade of my driveway.

Or you can put that puppy on some airbags and drop/raise as you please
