LUMBERTON — An Amber Alert was issued this afternoon for a 38-year-old registered sex offender who allegedly abducted his 8-year-old son from Burlington County earlier in the day.
Terry Dusseault took the child from the 300 block of Canal Circle in Lumberton Township, according to New Jersey State Police.
The suspect is also wanted on six charges of for crimes committed against children in New Jersey, authorities said. Dusseault was convicted in North Carolina of third-degree child exploitation charges in 2007, was sentenced to probation and was listed on that state’s sex offender registry, according to information on the North Carolina Department of Justice website and the North Carolina Department of Correction Offender Public Information website.
State Police said Dusseault took his 8-year-old son, Terry Dusseault, around 11 a.m. from a home in Lumberton.
The boy is described as being 4 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 80 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was dressed in a maroon-and-white striped shirt and blue jeans, according to police. He responds to the nickname "Junior."
His father is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 210 pounds and also has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a tan shirt and khaki shorts. Police said he has a tattoo of "NY" on his left arm.

Dusseault is wanted on six counts of child sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. The public is asked to contact the New Jersey State Police if they have any information on the whereabouts of Dusseault or his son.
When the Amber Alert was issued today, radio stations throughout the region aired details of the alert and special bulletins were posted on electronic message boards on the New Jersey Turnpike and other highways around the state.
