Buying my first lexus - need some advice about prepuchase inspection

I'm interested in purchasing the vehicle from an out of state seller in the Classified forums. I want to do the inspection through CarChex but I don't know how thorough the are. Would it be better to find a independent repair shop ?

Yes, definitely find an independent shop (not one the seller recommends, either) or Lexus dealer to inspect the vehicle. You could ask local members to check it out as well if anyone is close / available.

You should also get the maintenance history from Lexus and run a Carfax / AutoCheck - type report.
