I figured I'd better post this before I forget. I already had plans to travel to Florida this coming weekend so I'm not going to be at the Track Day next Saturday. Hopefully I can make the next meet. Have fun everybody.

Preliminary weather forecast for Saturday looks like showers ahead of a low that some long range models have tracking off the coast, which would mean a steadier rain. This model has the low tracking inland with a shower threat for Saturday. Hopefully the models move this low out faster than forecasted, we shall see. This is the 1pm forecast map for Saturday.

Canaan, you attach these maps like we know how to read them...lol. I didn't take that class in college. To me it looks like a kid did a bad coloring job because he couldn't follow the dotted lines on the page...lol.

 

So whats the verdict on the 4/5 meet attempt? are we undecided again due to weather?

Sunday (4/6/03) weather looks better than Saturday's. Partly sunny/cloudy with 10% chance of precip.

 

HAHA, sorry about that Sam. Guess I should clarify the maps a bit. The color shading is precipation over a 6 hour period prior to the time of the map. So for the map I attached before, it would be precip during the period of 7am to 1pm. The higher on the color scale, the heavier the precip during that 6 hr period. The dashed red and blue lines are not of importance but they help in determing the rain/snow line on the map. The solid lines are isobars, lines of constant pressure. The pressure is in Millibars, not inches of mercury as most are use to hearing on the weather reports. And I think that breaks down the maps. Hope that helps. I could post other maps at different levels of the atmosphere but then I'll have everyone scratching their heads, haha. So basically it looks wet going by that model run, which was done at 1am today. The 7am model run I have attached, which is for the same time period. You can see the low is modelled to track closer to the coast now and we get heavier precip as I discussed in my prior post. I'll keep the group updated on the forecast.

As far as "milli-bars" and "iso-bars"....I hate those things. The last hotel I stayed in charged me six bucks for a bottle of Coronna !
