My buddies have setup a track event at Thunderhill on Jan 17th. Rain or shine. It is a drift and grip events with the track sectioned off into two parts. Let me know if you have any questions. Let's see what a big *** GS400 can do on the track!

no, it's not free.
I think it's about $125 if you sign up in advance. They take Paypal too. You won't find many track events cheaper.

oh and will there be track instructors, or drivers that know what they are doing, out there??? or is this a pretty much free for all event where it comes down to the driver thinking they know what the line is???

As long as you have a license and your own car it should be fine. There will be a tech inspection to verify that your car is not leaking any fluids and you have proper safety equiptment (seat belts, helmet etc).
There will be flaggers on the track to warn you. Also there will be 3-4 groups from beginners to advanced. If it's your first time, stay in the beginners group. The beginner group will not allow any passing as oppsed to advanced. I'm not sure if there will be any instructors or a download session to review your driving. I'll have to check. Personally I don't think most people need a instructor because they can just follow the leader for learning experience.
I have never heard of anyone getting seriously hurt and I've seen a car flip over. A helicopter could come and pick up an seriously injured person.
Please see my first post, it has the URL. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks,
-Jeff
