Although I've had some good dishes at Elephant Bar, the ribs I had at the meet sucked.
Chili's makes better ribs.
Cheesecake Factory is definitely my favorite spot.
Most places either serve small portions of good food, or large portions of mediocre food.
Cheesecake Factory serves HUGE portions of really really good food.
Their brownie topped with ice-cream desert is double stacked....enough to feed 4
Todai is too damn expensive.
Malake on San Bruno Ave is ok but not many sushi choices.
I don't know what my favorite sushi place is called but it's on San Mateo Ave in San Bruno.
Mmmmmm.....food!

Ever since they opened the Cheesecake Factory at Macy's I've been meaning to try it, but have never got around to it. Also I hate driving to downtown, easier to take Bart or Muni, esp. during the holidays. I did go to a Cheesecake down in L.A. years back, yeah I remember huge portions and pretty good (dang, no room for cheesecake dessert).
As for Todai, I just go when its someones birthday, as they go free. I know Melaka is limited on the sushi, but their fried chicken wings are really good, plus you can not beat $6.95 for a decent meal.
Oooh, Claim Jumper!!! I've only been once and it was also very good w/ big portions, and good ribs. Did anyone else have their 7 layer choc cake? and the enormous ice cream/pastry puff thing?

Your better off going to Broadway Prime in Burlingame, parking is decent and there is a garage in the area. The food is the same as house of prime rib, but the ambience is a little nicer at van ness.

there's a nice little place on Willow Pass in Concord that does shawermas, it's called the Mediterranian. If you never had one, it's good. Lamb, tomatoes, onions with a spicy yogurt sauce rolled up in lavosh bread.
And my school(DVC) has a really good student-run bakeshop, only place where I can find gourmet pastries without having to go out of my way.

Guys,
If you want Sushi/Japanese food I would recommend Sushi Sam's in San Mateo. Sam, the owner, used to work at Isubone in Japan Town before he opened his own restaurant. They were featured in Evening Magazine and next thing you know they buy out the store next to them just to have more seating. They've also been recognized by the San Mateo times as being the "Best"
If you want bar-b-que ribs, try Brother-in-Law's Bar-B-Que on Divisadero and Grove in the city. The best!!!
That brick oven really makes a difference.

BBQ: Johnson's BBQ on San Bruno Avenue in SF
Firefly on 24th St and Douglass..I think..real nice potstickers and a $28 or so dinner special that includes the appetizer, entree, and dessert....excellent fried chicken too..reservations recommended
Some folks mentioned Todais...Moonstar on 8th and Market is a chinese/japanese buffet - $9.00 for lunch. Very crowded for lunch...
Korean..Brothers on Geary and Sixth or Fourth Avenue..there are two of them. BBQ your own Kalbi.
Pizza - Palo Alto Pizz'a Chicago
Japanese - Hamano Sushi on Castro
Upscale Chinese - Shaghai 1930 Steuart and Mission
Steak - Alfreds - not the best service but very nicely aged steaks.
Mexican - La Taquiria - Good quesadias and soft tacos; 25th and Mission
Bakery - Diandras on 25th and Mission or in San Mateo..in a mall somewhere.
