Just moved from Texas to NorCal. Having to register my car here, but I was told by 2 Smog technicians that I cannot pass with my SRT intake.
Since I moved, I do not have the OEM unit. I suggested removing it completely...and they still said no. I am from Texas, so i do not have the "sticker" for CA qualifications. No ones cares about this stuff from where Im from.
How in the *** do I get smogged? Is there a guy in the SAC area that I can go to? Any suggestions?

Yup unfortunately. You have to pass the obvious visual inspection and have your emissions below a certain level. High flow cats or no cats, intakes and etc throw off your ecu to throw out the wrong O2 and HC levels for your particular vehicle.

No need to unsolder. Just unplug the ECU from the harness and put in a jumper cable to reconnect the ground (i think) as the rest are just taps.

yup welcome to cali. my lexus isn;t modded yet but smog laws here in cali are stupid. when i had my 1991 honda crx man they would not smog me. had to make it bone stock. And another time when i had a 1999 integra all i had was a intake everything else was stock. the smog technician popped my hood n closed it n said son i can't test ur car your engine is modified.
so than had to dig through my storage for my stock intake. wat a pain that was.

for exhaust, that's no problem. as long as it's cat back or muffler back and you don't touch the cat then it's good.

Welcome to Cali. Exhausts should be fine (like Rominl) said, as long as they are cat back. If the cat is removed, then that is a different story. Any intake that does not have a CARB legal sticker on it is technically illegal in CA. Btw, if you do have an intake on a car that has a CARB legal sticker, you might want to double check that the sticker is still there if you leave your car anywhere for service. Seedy mechanics have been known to unpeel those stickers and sell them to other peeps cuz if a smog tech sees an exhaust w/o a CARB legal sticker, they won't do the test.
