Ive been out shooting quite a bit lately, and decided that i should buy one for myself. Im mainly looking at the Glock 22, it fits my hand perfect, great balance, good power, and the cheap readily available S&W 40 ammo. The one gun i shot, that i fell in love with, but cant afford, is the HK P2000 .40cal. Awesome gun. But at close to 900, its out of my range. I also shot a Glock 20 10mm, and that is an awesome gun, but at $150 for 500 rounds.. target shooting could get expensive. Anyway, i was wondering where you guys buy yours at. I was thinking of picking one up at Target Masters in Milpitas... they seem to have decent prices.

I like wheel guns. Average gun fight lasts 2.3 rounds, wheel guns are more dependable and you don't have to deal with safety's. For self-defense look at a S&W 340PD, it's a 357 mag and weighs about 11-12 oz's. Get a S&W 686 for target pratice. You can shot 38 special ammo at the range (cheap) and then load it with 357 mag. when your out camping. I find 357 mag is a excellant round. Go to this web site and ask the pro's www.smith-wessonforum.com
If you keep a gun in your house for home defense a wheel gun is best, because in a moment of fear when your out of town and your wife needs to defend herself with a wheel gun she just picks it up points and pulls the trigger. With an automatic she will have to "remember" to disengage the safety and maybe even chamber a round. That is not a good thing in a time of stress/fear.
Good luck

I purchased my Sig P228 for $650 at the gun show that comes around to the Cow Palace every now and then. The store was actually located in Antioch, so it was a bit of a drive.
I don't keep my gun around for home defense anymore. When I did, I always kept it loaded with one in the chamber. Since it's a Sig, there's no active safety.
