I just happened to be driving downtown on Saturday and low and behold they are starting to install the concrete walls. Also notice how the parts of the street that the track is located have been completely paved over smooth and the lane stripes are not painted.
This is the view of Almaden Blvd. The cars would be going down the main straight on the left hand side of the trees. They will be hitting toward 190mph and entering the hairpin turn where the heaviest braking of any track will occur and they will slow to 45mph to make the hairpin. After exiting the 180 degree haipin, the cars would be coming towards you in the picture, going up the street the opposite way and would be turning left at this intersection (moving towards the right from this view).
My grandstand seat is located on the left side at the corner. I can see cars at top speed going in front of me and I can see them going the opposite direction and turning left toward the park ave straight.

Here's the view exiting the 180 degree hairpin turn.
You can see that the large island in the middle of the street has been cut through and a few palm trees have been removed.
And too bad that UFO came in the view just as I snapped the pic.
