Default Body Shop!!!

Hey guys,
Need recomendations for a body shop located near Santa Clara, CA SOUTH BAY. I would like to bring it to a place where you guys can trust. Price is not an issue since insurance is paying for it. I want the best service and reliability. Thanks

Kenji

Usually it is hard to recommend because price and quality are always a factor. A bunch of us discussed this at our last meet. Most of us have had work done, but surprisingly none of us can wholeheartedly recommend a shop for one reason or the other. I guess we're picky.

I read now that this is an insurance job.

In that case I recommend:

Akins Collision Center
530 Reed St
Santa Clara, CA 95050

(408) 982-9200

I was happy with the Insurance work they did. Good service, prompt repair and good overall communication. The damage was severe, ( bent unibody, where the door gap was now off) but I couldn't tell anything was done when they gave the car back.

If you go with them or whoever you go with , please feedback if you like em.

Wow. Thats exactly the place I am bringin my car. I am supposed to bring it in sometime this week. They said it will take roughly two days to repair my rear bumper. Great service, and hopefully they do a good job. One thing I am worried about it When they wash my car, how badly it will damage my sensitive paint!!.. Last time a body shop washed my car, it had swirl marks every where. So mad.
Also, hopefully there will be no damage to my wheels. I just hope they dont.

Kenji,
I unfortunately need to bring one of our non-Lexus cars in there for damage this week as well.

I will go there either Tuesday or Thursday at lunch time. Maybe I'll see your car there.

Let them know your experience from the past with the cleaning of your car. Also right before you hand them the keys, it doesn't hurt to have the estimator walk around the car with you to acknowledge that you have no damage on the rims.

You should always let a business know what your expectations are ahead of time, even better before you agree to do business with them. I have had one contractor guy walk out on an estimate because I told him what I wanted and what I would expect from him. I would rather have that, then try to fix a problem after the fact.

Akin did an excellent job detailing our car inside and out the last time.

Take some before pictures.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Grace Auto Body in South San Francisco. They have on of three Accudraft Paint Booths ($200k) in NorCal and use top of the line PPG paint, $300 gallon clear coat, way above factory oem. Because they obsess on things, you'll find that they use a hospital grade air filter/compressor on the air intake for the spray guns.

As was shown around the shop talking the manager before I deciding to use them, my favorite quote was: "there is no economic justification for some of the things we use here". They have a 20,000 sq ft facility and do high quality work. Though I think mine could have gone more quickly, I not complaining because they are near perfectionists. 1379 San Mateo Avenue, So. Yea Mike, sounds like you found a good shop if your bimmer boyz are going there.

Santa Clara is perfect being in my neck of the woods.

Can you enlighten us more on what they do and what people say about them?

I could always use a body shop sponsor !

Thanks Mike. I used to live right around the corner from their shop, never knew it was there.

Mike ,
I checked up on them and found a google link where they worked on Rick's car from Europrojecz (Sp?)

They do all sorts of cars, custom body work and custom paint work.

I may seriously consider them for doing custom fender flares.
