Default Norcal Tint Cost and Film?

I like to get all around tint for my IS350 does anyone here know how much that would cost me? Any recommendation for the film to use? 3M, V-Kool, Llumar, Formula-1, Madico, or etc...? Thanks.

There are alot of great tint brands out there. Huper Optik is the most expensive, 3M is great but very hard to find. The more popular brands are SolarGard, Llumar and Madico. They all are great tints. The key to a great tint job is how the film is installed.

There is no specific method per se but there are people who have techniques to ensure proper installation. Auto Mall Tint in Fremont has been recommended several times. Check these recent previous threads regarding tint in the bay area:

Welcome.

The power of the "search" is a wonderful thing on CL.

What you can do is do a search for "tint" and then minimize the search to just "NorCal forums". Do this and you will find multiple threads on this topic, probably going back several years.

V-cool if you really want to pay for the cooling properties, Madico if you just want a quality tint with standard cooling properties. Most of us go to Sid at AutoMall Tint Specialists.

Tell him Glen referred you, to make sure you get fair pricing, not really a discount though.

One thing that does help is if you click "Contact Us", it says you will get 5% off your tint job.

My V-Kool went from 520 to 500 (not that that was really 5%, but eh.

I just got my car tinted by Sid at Automall Tint Factory last week. He did a great job, very clean outcome. I'm still waiting for the tint to dry and settle, but it looks good so far. You can easily get a quote from Sid from his website: www.automalltintfactory.com.

I went with the Huper Optik ceramic tint on the sides and their Suntek HP Charcoal on the rear window. The Huper Optik ceramic tint is more expensive than regular tint, but it has better heat resistance properties than darker tints of other brands. V-Kool is probably the most expensive stuff Sid carries, but good if you don't want to worry about cops hassling you about tint darkness.

I asked Sid about Madico since it's so popular. It's a decent tint, but he doesn't use it much and prefers other brands.
