I was wondering where are some of the shops that you guys got to install the S&S Headers around San Jose? If you do mind me asking how much did you pay for the install?

5 of us locals have the headers.
I am surprised that no one thinks to ask if Exact if they do it.
Isn't it obvious who our GO TO Lexus installer / maintenance / service in the Bay Area is ????????????.
Call them because after getting the installation down to a science, they have probably minimized the labor time, which I guarantee you is still going to cost a chunk of money. Except for those who got the 20% discount coupon for attending EOS.
Before ordering the headers, call em to find out what the labor will be.

I'm sorry, I'm still new to this whole clublexus world. . . thanks for the recommendation. . . I called Exact and some other local shops. . . I am going with Exact since I feel more comfortable knowing that they have experiance with this job. . . My car is going in for headers to be installed this Thursday. . . I am quite excited

Actually I thought of asking Exact first, and I did, but John told me I'd have to go to a muffler shop becuase on my car I need a custom weld for the EGR pipe. He said he wouldn't be able to do that.

I had a local muffler shop weld a bung to my header and we go to Troy Ermish Racing (Fremont) for exhaust fabrication work like installing an x-pipe or making custom dual exhausts.
Exact does the bolt on exhaust work for us however. For the header install, I would def go to Exact than even a muffler shop. The header job is more important to have mechanic skills than exhaust skills.
The labor time at the Lexus dealer to do this is something crazy like 10 hours. Exact has made special tools to do the work and developed methods to shorten this labor time and charge you less.
I would bet that you will NOT find a muffler shop in the bay area that has experience installing headers on a Lexus.

Please look for the post on cracked S & S headers in the GS "Engine" section.
You need to verify yourself visually or with S & S that you have the new headers with the improved welding.
You do not want to pay the extra labor to remove a header that has cracked after x months or x miles. That cost will come out of your pocket, not S & S.

Hi.. I just got a 1996 ls400 with 120K miles and am looking to get some work done. I love these boards so far, lots of great info.
Any recommenations near Palo Alto on good lexus mechanics? I saw that the sponsor is exact motorsports in milipitas, but I'd rather find somebody closer.
Here' a brief rundown on the services I'd like to do:
Front brake pads
Front rotors
New struts ( inc. bumper stop )
Replace lower ball joints
Replace sway bar bushings
Replace 2 engine mounts ( 1 tranny mount )
Cabin filter
Air filter
Fan belt
Check spark plugs
Flush trans
Flush radiator
Oil change
Wiper blades
I'm not really interested in diy'ing it this time. I just want to enjoy and drive my lexus..![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
thanks!

The only other recomended non-dealer Lexus shop on your side is Topline, in San Mateo. They might not be much closer than Milpitas if any and they will cost more than Exact.
Exact has pretty much established themselves as Lexus specialists and with labor quotes that the dealers can't touch. All the work you listed they can do. You will find old posts from many who trust their cars with Exact more than the dealer.
You don't have to take my word for it; If you search "Exact" on the NorCal section, you will see that they have been recommended long before they even became a sponsor. People come from a lot further than Palo Alto to have work done there. Sac, SF & Concord to name a few.
I'm sure there are other shops near you that could do the work, but I don't recall any that come highly recommended in the past 6 years that I've been on board.
If you find a shop in your area that you prefer, let us know.
