Monterey Historics August 19, 2006
It's appropriate that as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca celebrates its 50th Anniversary the longest running event on the schedule celebrates the history of automobile racing. This year's marque highlights Indy Roadsters, bringing to life the original open-wheelers and bringing the spirit of Indy back to the Central California Coast.
The Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races are the largest event held during the renowned classic car weekend in Monterey California. More than 40,000 visitors worldwide annually attend the Historic Races.
The Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races are a tribute of motor racing history, historic automobiles and the people who made them. Each year, more than 375 of the finest historic race and sports cars are entered in 14 race groups that span nearly every era of motorsports history.

Here are some links to the photos from Laguna Seca this past weekend. On the other photos below you can see we were treated to a demo of Toyotas current Formula One car. They broke the ultimate track record for any vehicle to ever run at Laguna Seca. By comparison, the current track record holding Moto GP Motorcycle was beat by the Toyota F1 car by more than 15 seconds !!!!! That's just for one lap folks !
Here's a link to some pics from the Monterey Historics.

It was a rare opportunity to see a current gen Formula One car especially in California as they only come once a year to race in the US at the reknown Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Thanks to Toyota for bringing the car all the way from their Europe HQ for us to enjoy.
Other treats not shown were famous Toyota Race cars from the past, plus Autograph sessions with Rod Millen, IRON MAN Stewart and Formula One Legend Juan Manuel Fangio.

Glen,
I haven't seen any threads regarding convoys. Are there any plans being made to roll down together?
We're looking to leave early Friday morning.
Give me a call if you still have the #.
I'm really looking forward to this one although I hear traffic is going to be KILLER.
Cheers,
~Alan

Allan,
Toyota as usual has not gotten back to me on the agenda so I don't know how early we should leave. Everyone who registered should get their tickets in the mail next Monday. The tickets went out today.
I WILL email those going with convoy information, but it will probably be early next week.
Thanks

Dang Glen....
I dont know how I missed this... I have been going to the Historics for 15+ years with my dad. Im going again this year, taking the Saleen but I'll be sure to say whats up. You guys should really look into attending the Quail or the Concorso Italiano on Friday. Both are amazing shows and I think better than the Historics. Then Sunday for Pebble Beach... Its gonna be a blast. Ill be down there Thursday morning. See you guys there.
