Default Can anyone with an SGM car come with me to the bodyshop on Monday?

Just like the title says.. Going to get my LS repainted fully.. in SGM So I was wondering if someone can come with me to east San Jose where the body shop is located when I drop the car off.. so I can make sure that the color I get is absolutely what I want. I've checked out SGM on various cars, and the body shop's paint code looks a little different: the paint code they have is a little too metallic. I want to show the color to them first hand.

So if anyone has time on monday, I can accomodate to your schedule.. or Tuesday if thats better.

Please let me know!

Suneet,
Just tell the bodyshop which year/model/color that you want to match up; the bodyshop can find out the color code from the manufacturer.

Unless you want your own color tone.... otherwise there is a record of standard color codes for all dealer colors, any car.

Okay Joseph, I'll be more clear about it when I'm there. When I did that last time, the color match card he pulled out didn't look like the color I wanted... it was too metallic.

did they show you the color in the can or did they lay it down on metal?

In the can will not be correct, but once laid down and the specs spread out it will change.

I'm going to be dropping the car off on Thursday.. they just showed me a paint code strip of paper with paint on it. They did mention though that they would do a piece of metal to show me before they started on the car.

I went to the dealer today, picked up the 07 GS color options pamphlet which has a little paint code sticker for Smoky Granite Mica.. That should help a bit.

But even still.. if any of you have an SGM car, it would really help me out and give me some piece of mind..

I'll buy you lunch! And pay for your gas.

If I wasn't leaving on a trip. I would have been more than happy to stop by the shop for them to match the paint.

Thanks man.. maybe if you have some time next week, you can come in with me? They will spend a lot more time prepping the car than actually painting it...

I dropped the car off today at ProKraft. We were able to find what I think was a pretty good match with the paint code. They use a Matrix computerized paint matching system, and the paint code he pulled out matched pretty well with the SGM paint code thingy I got from the dealership.

They will show me a test panel in a week or so, so we'll see how it goes.

I'm pretty nervous about this whole process! I'm changing the color of my car.. and I've never even gotten it painted before. It sure is an experience. Now I have to wait a month.

it'll be worth the wait to have a nice color on your LS that no one else will have.
