Default FastTrak without sticking on windshield

I don't go over the bridge much but the saturday I was waiting for 20 minutes stop and go to pay toll, I am completely thinking of getting a fastTrack now. But I don't want to stick it to my window, I think it's ugly but also I have other cars I might be driving instead of the Lexus.

Will this work fine if I put it on my dash when I need it?

As I understand it, if you have your plates registered, it doesn't matter if you have the fastrack thing in your car or not.

yeah I didn't mount my fastrak in my car either as I switch between 3 cars, so keep it in the center console and take it out as I approach the toll plaza. Usually I just put it in my cupholder or dash as I drive through and you can tell if it picks up the signal from the display in the lane and the fastrak actually beeps as you pass through.

Otherwise as Suneet said, when you sign up for it you give them your license plate #s and they have cameras that take shots of people who go through without a fastrak, and if your transponder is not working for some reason they will read your license # off the photo and charge it against your account. The only issue would be if say you had a rental car or you borrowed a friend's car, and you were driving through and the transponder didn't work, the owner of the car would get a bill in the mail for "running" the fastrak lane.

you can leave it on the dash when you pass through...and hide it when you are done....that's what I do everyday.....

they also video tape your license plate, so it's all good as long as you dont go too fast passing the booth.....

EVERYONE should get fastrak. i dont understand why people dont do it.

i keep it in my compartment drawer and take it out when i need it. Also, there are license plate brackets that you can get from the fastrak company that has the module it in, but its kinda ugly.

also, technically, you dont need to have it in your car. They will take a picture of your license plate (cause sometimes it doesnt even work if your driving too fast) and then it will find your account automatically.

What he said ^^^^

You technically don't even need the transponder. You're golden as long as the vehicle you are in is registered to your Fastrak account. I switch between 3 cars also and it's just a hassle having to get it out of the car when I need it.
