Default Strategies on purchase of new Lexus in Norcal

I am planning to purchase a 2008 ES350 within a few weeks.
Car dealers in Northern California are famous for inflating prices over MSRP (the wealth and demand for lux cars in silicon valley). I am searching for some strategies on aquiring a good price from Norcal dealers. I still don't know what price I should aim for. I would appreciate some advice

Navigation System/Mark Levinson® Surround Sound Package
Ultra-Luxury Package
Intuitive Parking Assist
XM radio

MSRP $45,201
INVOICE $38,938

colors I am considering: saphire pearl, aquamarine, metalic red

With the way our economy has been, believe me, you can make a deal happen at dealerships. Toyota/Lexus is down in sales from last year to now, by about 2.3% I think. While this number is not huge, investors still see it as poor performance on their end. Dealerships are pressured to make sales, and if the car has been on the lot for some time, they will make virtually any deal to get it off before they need to pay interest on the car (since they finance them from Lexus). Since you already know (ballpark anyway) what you are expecting to pay, you can shop around for a loan first before you go in. This way, when they offer to finance, you can make sure they are giving you a decent rate. Most of the time, if the car does not need to be ordered, they will be able to give you close to invoice. I bought a new car at a substantial price below invoice because it had been sitting on the lot and they wanted to get rid of it.

I'd recommend getting price quotes from 2 local dealers and carsdirect.com. You put all 3 against each other and go with whoever gives you the best price. That method worked out really well for me back in 06 when I got my IS350 in San Jose. Good luck.

Also go through the internet sales dept. They give even better deals vs. showroom sales because they compete against other local online dealers. Plus you dont have to drive around! Just give them a call. I bought a 06 evo IX below invoice at the end of the month back in 05.

Get an internet quote from several dealers. Don't waste time going to the dealership unless you're done choosing which car and at which dealer to buy from.

Internet sales, but they tend to make you call them to get a pricing now but its way easier to deal with them online then waste your time visiting the dealership and haggling over the price.

Get price quote #1 and contact another dealer and see what they got to offer
and now you have 2 quotes. now let them fight for that sale.

End of the month = easier to get the best deals, to meet their quotas.

They usually tell me that the offer is only good for x amount of days in the emails I've gotten lately.

Call different places. my .02 says that the UL ES350's are somewhat hard to find and dealerships discount them...but not as much as a regular ES350 because the demand for the UL is way more than the regular ones...
