On our 2006 Hybrid, we increased milage by a solid 3 mpg switching over to Eneos from dino oil.
The next oil change my wife couldn't wait for me to buy more Enos and she had Mobile 1 put in instead. The gas milage worsend by about 2mpg.
Can't say everyone will get those results, but considering this is on a Hybrid, I thought these were pretty interesting results.
The reason why Eneos gets better milage is simple, the viscosity starts out lower and the stability of the viscosity does not drop to unsafe levels when the oil temperatures rise, compared to all other oils where the stability slope is greater, so you need to start with a higher viscosity to begin with and as the temperatures rise the rate of viscosity loss is greater.
Toyota approved this low viscosity grade for OEM use. Team LeMans in Japan's Super GT series Lexus SC430 uses it as well as Honda's Formula 1 Team.
Since the Hybrid is stored outdoors in the winter, I considerd the cold starts and slow warm up temps that the car will be subjected to, plus the increased mileage is another plus.
For a car with an 18 gallon gas tank, an increase in 3 mpg is worth about $10 in savings per fill up, so paying off the cost of the oil comes fairly quickly with the current gas prices.
This is the family work horse and it gets driven the most, so gas savings and long term reliability were important to me.
Whether you can jusify the cost is really up to you and what your requirements are for performance, economy and engine longevity.

I use the Econo on the hybrid and Performance on the Lexi. Got 20mpg going to LA on my Supercharged GS. Hard not to lead foot it though or I might of done better.
Contact/Pm Josephdoc for the low down on what the difference is. He sells the oil as well.
I'm sure he uses Eneos on his Supercharged IS350.
