Default Just a reminder.....

I know you've probably seen them on all of those electronic billboards on the freeway but.....

Hands free equipment required starting July 1st, 2008. I had to remind my gf and family members.

I took this from here: http://www.dmv.org/ca-california/safety-laws.php
Cell Phone Laws

The following best practices will help you drive more safely while using your cell phone:

* Always drive to the side of the road to use your cell phone.

* Use hands-free devices. Note: Beginning July 1, 2008, you may not use a cellular telephone while driving unless hands-free equipment is used.

* Let it ring. Don't feel compelled to answer.

* Don't use the telephone during hazardous conditions.

* Pay attention to the road.

* Be sensible about dialing.

* Don't engage in distracting conversations. Rush hour traffic is not the time to hash out marital problems. << found this funny.

* Use your phone to call for help.

Be safe everyone!

this sucks. im glad it limits the idiots out there texting while driving, but those of us who are capable of multi-tasking are subject to wearing ugly headsets. lol.

I sure hope they really implement this law. In my commute I see way too many people almost rear-ending somebody else because they were busy with their phones.

You are incorrect sir.

Q: Does the new "hands-free" law allow you to use the speaker phone function of your wireless telephone while driving?
A: Yes.

I thought about getting a bluetooth kit installed, but I wouldn't want passengers to hear unnecessary or private conversations..... Or maybe I'm jealous my car didn't come with bluetooth.

I don't think it says anything about texting yet. It's a new law so it'll take a bit of time before they tweak it with more details. I don't even like texting. I'd rather save my finger energy for CL and xbox 360.

I don't see very much privacy in passengers hearing just my side of the conversation.

Good point about the tinted windows.

EDITED - I TOTALLY misread that. I agree - there is little privacy either way.
