How safe is your Neighborhood?

I live in a good neighborhood, but as people have commented, it's going to be people coming from other neighboring areas that will hit your car.
My homeowners coverage includes a private security patrol for our homes, but this is where having "nosey" neighbors or a "Neighborhood watch" is a good thing. I have my neighbors phone numbers so we agree to call each other when we see something suspicious.
Even though the cars are parked indoors, it doesn't hurt to have locks on all 5 lugs.
The only pain is I need 5 keys to take off my rims.

That's pretty crazy to see that, even crazier if it was a Lexus!
I live the south bay. Its pretty quiet and safe here for the most part although i have experience some car vandalism in the past. Nothing too bad, just like food or crap thrown at the car.
I feel ok having my ride outside, but I'm soo glad I'm garage parked.

cant believe they used a rock.
i live in san jose off s 22nd street. about 12 blocks away from sjsu. last week when i pulled out of the garage in the morning i noticed all the cars on the sidewalk looked crocked. all the driver sided front and rear tires got the air let out. from the looks of it they were not slashed or damaged. i would guess it was about 15 to 20 cars.
wheels locks are pretty useless.. i seen a wheel lock get taken off with out a key in 5 seconds. Hammered on a socket to the wheel lock. and gunned off. but all we can do is try to give the thieves more trouble.
get air suspension everyone.. and slam your car to the ground so they cant jack it up.

I agree with the person who said its not an issues of the neighborhood being safe, it's a matter of whose passing through your neighborhood. My friend lives in a relatively newly developed housing area where 9/10 are younger to middle working professionals and one night someone decided to key about 10 cars on their block - my friends included. As for my neighborhood, well until recently when all the elders started moving out and we got a bunch of new neighbors, many people never even bothered to lock their front doors when they left home - my household included. I still don't always lock my car door overnight; it's very seldom I do actually.

Or you may be so unlucky that they steal items from your vehicle AND vandalize your car.
No car is safe.... I have even seen stock cars get keyed etc. as a random act of vandalism. I guess you have to observant and aware of areas and where you park and also be mindful (checking your car to make sure is locked, windows rolled up).
