If you're in the San Jose/Santa Clara area one of my most favorite place to visit is Santana Row. During the day you can relax and enjoy the nice day on the strip. Plenty of shops to choose from such as Gucci, H&M, Bang & Olufssen, and so much more. They have also got some of the best restaurants Ive been to. Maggianos Little Italy is delicious. The most recent one Ive visited was Consuelos Mexican bistro right at the corner. The food there is great. When the sun goes down there are a couple bars that open up such as Sino's and Straits. Usually very packed with lines out the door.

Second on Santana Row.
Eastbay there is the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton.
Southbay is Santana Row / Valley Fair Shopping.
Shopping in SF too.
Site seeing:
Carmel Beach
Monterey
Fisherman's Wharf
17-Mile
Sonoma Wine County in Sonoma / Napa has some nice wineries if youre into that.
Clubbing:
Lots of Clubs in SF.
If you want to be more local, Sunnyvale and San Jose have some nice ones.
Food: Santana Row again, will have most of hte nice eateries and restuarnts.
Other than that...
Fahrenheit - 99 East San Fernando Street, Downtown San Jose
Arcadia: 100 W San Carlos Street, San Jose CA 95113
Forbes: 206 North Santa Cruz Avenue, Los Gatos, Ca, 95030
Spencers: 2050 Gateway Place, San Jose, California
McCormicks: 170 S Market St San Jose, CA
hope that helps.

+1 or 2 for Santana Row. The food there is ok, but not great IMO. For a "one stop shop" you can't really beat it though.
Big +1 for Forbes Mill as mentioned above. Morton's, AP Stumps, and The Grill are also good. Depends on what you're looking for though.

haha santana row is sick...i see a Ferrari or lambo there every single time. stoneridge is boring just cause i've been there WAY too many times. i would take them to SF, walk around and tour the area, there's places like the golden gate bridge, chinatown, japantown, union square, lombard street, stuff like that. san jose, i'd take them to get some boba if they've never had it
and have some viet food (or maybe that's just cause i'm asian LOL)

ahh yeah cheesecake its so crowded lol, and they give you those pagers to page you in like 45-50 minutes to know when the table is ready. what you can do to earn money is get a pager, go eat somewhere else, come back, and sell it for like 10 bucks...never tried it but my cousin's cousin from france was serious about doing it when we took him there LOL.

1. Santana Row
The food there seriously sucks, it's more of a place to be seen type of place. I've been to the Maggianos there and the food and service there seriously sucks. Very good for people watching though and I love how dog friendly they are. Valley Fair is across the street also for some excellent shopping.
2. San Francisco Centre
Bloomies, Nordstroms, Juicy Couture etc if you're looking for more shopping. Many people can attest to the fact that the food court there is nothing short of amazing (Buckhorn, Asqew Grill, Coriander, Beard Papa's) for really good mall food. High end stores such as YSL, Ferragamo, Chanel and Prada are just a few blocks away around Union Square.
3. Haight/Asbury
For the inner hippie in everyone. Great stores for sneakerheads and hip hop heads. There are also many um eclectic stores that you can browse through. Very easy way to waste an afternoon.
4. N. Main St. Walnut Creek
30 minutes outside of SF. Ton's of cute restaurants and bars with shopping. Ruth Chris Steakhouse, Crogan's, 1515, PF Changs and CPK are the first restaurants that come to mind.
5. Osha Thai
There are 4-5 locations in San Francisco I believe and the Embarcadero location is the one to go to for very affordable Thai food in a great atmosphere.
6. Koo
Sushi bar on Irving in the city. Highly recommended.
7. Yoshi's
Jazz club located in Alameda (JLS) and one in the Fillmore in the City. Great food and great ambiance.
8. Fisherman's Wharf
9. Embarcadero
10. Golden Gate Park
11. Golden Gate Bridge/Crissy Field, Presidio etc.
12. Japantown
13. Burlingame Ave
14. Twin Peaks
15. Berkeley (University Ave etc.) think Haight/Asbury with a ton of more hippies. :P
