Default HIN San Mateo April 4 - Bummer Update

I know several people have been asking me about coordinating a CL crew for HIN. In the past we have been allocated primo parking locations inside one of the main halls.

This year it looks like only the vendors will be indoors. The new HIN owners for some reason are not allocating the other in-door halls. So everyone else will have to park outside this year.

It's still a bit chilly at night and then there's always a chance of April showers. This not only makes it harder on the show entrants, but the spectators will be less comfortable as well.

Another impact for the entrants is that they will not only have to check in on Friday afternoon, but they will also need to leave their cars outside over night. It's one thing to move and prep your car all evening on Friday, but another thing to still have to come out Saturday and wipe the dew off the cars, hopefully with no rain.

I spoke with Ernie from WEKFEST and he said he would not be participating in this event. What this also means is that we do not have him available to facilitate a dedicated location for our group of cars as well.

If you are still interested in attending this event, by all means don't let this news stop you. I just wanted to post this so peoples expectations are set and no surprises or disappointment.

If this situation should change I will update this post and make any necessary corrections. If anyone hears news contrary to what I posted. please let us know.

If you would like to coordinate a CL group to show, please post a new thread as I can no longer facilitate this activity without Ernie's support.

Sorry Guys.

Cancel, I guess i'm not going anymore. Oh well. Thats so damn retarded and so much work to enter. Theirs no use going if i'm not able to check out anything from the inside. I can stand outside at a our local meets and have more fun. Well, good luck with anyone's that going.

Last year we had a really nice roped off area right in the middle of one of the main halls, lot's of foot traffic and well lit. Other Lexus that did not sign up with LGWNorCal had to park outside or were sent to one of the smaller remotely located halls.

Here's how it will be this year. Outside, in the dark. Not that I'm trying to discourage anyone, but you get the picture.

And some members found ways to stay warm even if they weren't outside in the cold.

^lol at the second pic!

That sucks about not being able to park inside though. And with all this rain we've been having.....hopefully it gives us a break here soon.

Jeff you are so hard core.

I don't know anyone that will drive the long and tiring journey from here to LA for an event and then be the first one in the group to get up at the crack of dawn to clean his car.

You're just a glutton for punishment I guess.

Glen, so if there was in door parking would you be interested in setting up a CL group? or still no?

Shane,
I'm Ok with helping to set up a CL group, but our main hook up dropped out and I don't have much incentive to pursue other options. Whether it's indoor or outdoor that's up to everyone, but I suspect most would not like to be outside, which is why I posted.

I didn't participate last year, but I did help organize and I did spectate. That may be the case this time as well.

Shoot me an e-mail with what you are thinking.

That's exactly my point. I suspect the new HIN owners are cheaping out, saving money or something like that.

If word gets out to the other car communities and spectators, HIN may be shooting themselves in the foot.
