Remember when you vote to okay new projects... the money has to come from somewhere. Class reduction: Money. New laws introduce: Money. New transportation project: Money...etc.

Is 1% really that big of a deal? I mean If you bought a $100k car, it would cost you and extra $1000... If 1% more on sales tax fixes out f'd up roads and whatever else it's not that bad. In the grand scheme of things, 1% isn't too bad. You probably almost throw away more change per year than you'll pay in incremental sales tax. Look on the bright side, at least its not an additional 1% on income tax!

That is true. We'll all just have to deal with it. Or.... protest.

isn't that income tax rate going up too?

1% isn't a big deal if i actually see the results of the extra money. but to be honest the state sucks up more money and i don't see that much more of an improvement

^^^ I am not sure about income tax though I wouldnt be surprised if it did. I would still rather have sales tax go up the incremental 1% as opposed to having them leave sales tax alone and than tacking that additional 1% onto whatever the incremental income tax amount is.

I've actually already seen SOME improvements lately, but then again I am not sure how much that has to do with any of this... I do agree though, that they probably try to hold onto more of the tax revenues rather than disburse it to wherever the have promised the money was going to go.

One way or another...tax will go up. If some how they are not able to pass the increase in sales tax, they'll find other ways to increase something else.

To me, I don't really care too much about the increase... it's the people who vote for feel good projects who are the one's to moan and groan when they have to pay for it.

Something gotta give.

Wasn't the main reason that Arnold got in office years ago was because he said he would not allow the DMV to raise the registration fees?

Sure now that he has one foot out the door and the other on a banana peel (no chance of re-election), he doesn't care about the increase anymore.

it wasnt his idea, plus the state was going back and forth and nothing was getting done...they needed to find a new budget plan or else cali was gonna go backrupt.
