I was damn near stranded today going from the Transbay Terminal - and CC Myers is working on this - what happened was that a repair coupler snapped at the same joint where a crack was.
And the commute is not looking good for the morning unless something changes.

Yeah, Bart trains are doubled-up now to accomodate more commuters. Bay Bridge is closed indefinitely. This could be a longer repair than we'd like. They don't want this to happen again as three cars were struck by the cable. Someone could have been killed.

Latest report is that the failure was from stress induced fatigue contributed by the unusually high winds.
They have determined a fix to prevent the failure from recurring, but the work required is not expected to be completed any sooner than noon tomorrow. Currently they have not even provided a completion date.
I was going south on 880 yesterday evening around 8pm and the 92 exit was still backed up.

yeah my advice, don't use the golden gate, traffic was horrid. took me 2.5 hours to get to frisco. BART will be your best bet, but depending where u get on u may not find a seat/

BART is horrible, horrible, horrible - I usually avoid BART during commute hours. I was on the San Francisco line from Del Norte to 12th St. in Oakland - I can't handle the crowds. I took the ferry from Oakland instead
