Default Hit a ladder on I-80....

So someone decide to hut hut hut HIKE! a ladder down the fast lane. I didn't even have a chance to brake. I hit the ladder, taking my bumper & fog lights and fender liner. I guess i won't need to get them rolled... my IS350 does this amazing nose dive sending the rear of the car up maybe 3-4 ft into the air and coming down, it pops my rear right tire. Sigh....=[

Now I'm on a hunt to find a body shop. I don't know whats wrong with the car. The only thing i see is a new bumper, radiator supports, fender liner, fog lights and tires.I'm not sure if any suspension parts are damaged, but i hit the ladder with my front tires pretty hard.

As for the body shop i need a place that's willing to buy OEM parts as well as aftermarket. I was in the process of getting coilovers, but now i'll really need new struts. And probably my OEM GFX lip.

Thanks.

PS: most of you will want to see what a ladder does to a is350, so i'll have some picture up by tomorrow.

Pictures makes me sad. Doesn't seem like much cosmetically, but going 65 vs a steel ladder, i wonder what that does to the suspension.....

^ Middle white piece is radiator support. Bent like an accordion.

sigh, no more GFX lip.Out of production as well...

man that sucks. were you able to get the license plate of the d-bag that chucked the ladder onto the freeway or was it just there? I tagged a Home Depot bucket (it was orange so im assuming its HD), on 880 a few months ago but my car is a POS so it didnt really bother me. However seeing the damage on your car makes me cringe.

Hope you got the license plate number of the guy who dropped it cause his insurance pays for that! (in case you didnt know) either way, if you're insurance (or his) has a good adjuster, the will be able to assess the damage and find EVERY little part that got messed up. Adjusters are pretty good at finding everything wrong with it, just dont close the case until you know for sure there isnt anything else wrong... Good luck.

I would of chased the guy, but my rear tire was busted open. I SHOULD of and have that ******* pay for it, but i didn't know how my steering would hold up after hitting the ladder.

I had insurance cover it. Hopefully there isn't any suspension damage which i highly doubt. Now i'm just thinking of what lip to get since the GFX is out.

even IF you caught up to the guy in front.. insurance would never find that guy at fault.. they would rule that you did not follow at a safe distance to give yourself time to react. sorry to hear what happened.. good luck with the fix.. maybe u can get more aftermarket parts thru the bodyshop.

I will have to disagree. If I'm not mistaken theres also a law about trucks and having loose equipment in their beds. If and when something falls off, it becomes a projectile. Thats why you can get diesel drivers for rocks that they are hauling if rocks fall out.

hell if not, you can DEFINITELY take them to small claims, I mean if someone through something out their window I'd get them for it (if damage was caused) same difference

Ouch, the pics hurt my eyes.

Just a bumper only, and it can be your best excuse to get a new lip kit.

Wish your car get back to the road soon,
