OUT OF TOWN VISITORS: What to do in SF?
#46
thanks for everyone who shared some the great info. I've been here for 2 days now and checked out a few things. Did the whole Alcatraz deal, checked out Deyoung museum, Japanese tea garden, Ghiirdelli square, Coit tower, Fisherman's wharf, wine tasting in solvang. Been a very positive experience so far. People are pretty friendly up here. Checking out the golden bridge out tomrrow.
The only thing I can say is the streets do suck out here! The metro system looks efficient, but please fix the roads =)
Taxes are 15% up here and also there is a health tax when eating out at resturants. Just a few things that surprised me.
Oh yah guys, my car is at my dealership in LA getting the valve spring recall done. I was able to bring up the loaner (IS250). If I had my car I would be hating it cause SF got some really really bad roads up here. I would have to adjust my car back to stock height.

^ Wow, you got a lot done in such little time! When you were at the de Young, did you check out the Academy of Sciences too? If not, this might be a cool thing to do: http://www.calacademy.org/events/nightlife/
Didn't I warn you?
Just a few of things that happen when socialists are in charge.

hey waht up brian. didnt check out the science academy. was getting late in the day and it was between the museum or the science academy. Maybe I might check that out tonight, but I have the Golden Gate Bridge, chinatown, japantown, and union square to check out today. I am also going to be using the Muni to get around today. I walked the entire day yesterday and I am beat.
I tried out Tony's Pizza and that place is awesome. Probably the best pizza I've had in my life. Best meatballs ive tasted. That guy Tony appeared on Food Network and I thought I'd check out his place when I'm around the area and am really glad I did. Off to Golden Gate bridge! going to be waking across that bad boy. Thank god the weather has been really nice.

Being born and raised in SF, always carry a sweater or jacket cause a bit after 4:00 the wind starts blowing from the west!! Have fun. Looks like you've hit some great spots. How bout Lombard St? (curvy st).

ive hit lombard street. checked that out n it looks pretty cool. I also went to the painted ladies homes, chinatown, japantown, golden gate bridge, golden gate park, rode on the MUNI buses and subways. Been a long day but you guys have to check out this one place i visited for lunch. Its called San Tung. You guys can yelp it, but that place has the absolute best dry fried chicken wing in the entire world! You guys in SF should check that place out n get the dry fried chicken wing. It's bomb-dizzle good =)

hey everyone. I'm back home now and had a wonderful time visiting SF. You can truly get around to the major sight seeing places on the MUNI. The munni all day pass was well worth the investment. Thanks to everyone that chimed in with wonderful suggestions.
generic587 - San Tung is some good stuff man. Next time I'm going straight there to get the party platter of chicken wings. No joke, everyone in SF has to check that place out!
Brian - I try to make the most of my time when I was in SF. me n the GF spent a lot of time planning before the trip, during the trip and even spent more time planning in the hotel at night time. Next time I visit SF i wont be so lost =)
Bryan - Yah KB did majority of the driving on the way up to SF. We spent of lot of time walking and taking the metro system to get around the city. Hope you had a nice trip to Berlin.

Yeah, seriously, you did more things in SF that I've done my whole life at the bay. The most I ever do is watch the Giants play, Pier 39, Chinatown, or Japantown. I avoid everything else like the plague. And I never drive to SF. Always take Caltrain up and bus and walk around. Sounds like you had fun though.
PS: Firestones in SLO is my favorite place to eat in the world! I lived down there for a few years, and it's seriously the best food you can get without breaking the bank. I watched game 3 of the World Series there, and it was completely packed. Took my group almost an hour to grab a table...
