My dad is finally willing to rid of his 1984 Mercedes 500 SEC after hanging on to it for so long.

We recently got a letter from the Air Quality Resource Board asking us to scrap the car for $1000, which is their program to remove old cars from the road. My dad would have done the cash for clunkers, but his car didnt quality as that was for cars 1985 and later.

So he thinks he can get more because its riding on new contis and relatively new E class (late 90s) rims.

Any place you guys know of in Norcal that accepts these used cars, perhaps a junk yard or parts yard that would pay more than $1000?

the car still runs fine with no mechanical problems, but some of the interior is falling apart, radio doesnt work, air con doesnt work, etc etc.

as long as its more than 1000, i think he will be happy.

if your in SF, try the junkyard by Evans and 3rd? there is a few wrecking yards around that area.
