***** 880! potholes of death
So last monday i was heading up 880 from sj to oakland to see my girl late at night. As i was going through a section of 880 in fremont i hit a very large pothole in the first lane going 85ish mph. I could barely see a glimpse of it due to my speed and also that section of freeway was exceptionally dark. My wheels hit so hard it stopped my cd player dead for a few whole seconds. I was concerned i might have bent a rim but i was in a hurry so i didnt stop to check. I was washing my car today and noticed sure enough, one of my rims on the front has a bend in it.
So beware of this pothole if you are riding low pros or have a kit, it is located in the first lane of 880 northbound, i believe between the Mission blvd and Auto Mall Parkway exits (also there was a chp station weigh station right after it). Be safe out there, cuz these freeways will try to kill your car.
Btw what happened to that pinned pothole thread.

Sucks to hear, hope you get it fixed soon. Thanks for the heads up but drive slower now so you can scan ahead for road hazards. I had 20's and they sucked for daily driving.
Here' why I have better luck.
1) I drive only 70ish.
2) I have an LS430 retrofit which does wonders for light output.
3) I'm on 18" 3GS wheels with 245/40/18 tires and gives me a nice cushion because of the thick sidewall.

Oh shi**ers thanks for the heads up, i'll beware of this tomorrow.
I drive back and forth from the walnut creek area to the southbay every week. I know where some potholes are and can avoid them by driving both ways in the #1 lane most of the way, swtiching over lanes on the parts where its rough.
If anyone is interested i found the link to the 680 pothole news report with camera footage

There is a pretty big pothole in hayward on 92. It is when you start the spiral down from the 92 to northbound 880. I slowing down to make the turn and hit this pothole at about 30. This pothole gets both your wheels!!

don't forget that besides potholes on the freeways...there's another type of danger on local roads in the city!!
especially in SF, there are sections of certain roads where road construction is still in progress and there are these large square metal plates on the ground!! these large metal plates are raised about an inch up from the ground and can hurt your car (especially if you're lowered) if you're going too fast over them!
right now, there are multiple heavy duty metal plates on Sagamore St. (right off of Alemany Blvd.) right before you enter Brotherhood Way to go towards 19th Ave.
watch out!!
