Wondering If Anyone Can Answer These Questions About FasTrak
just some things Ive been thinking about and wondering if anybody knew the answer to.
1) all the lanes are marked Cash/FasTrak. One day, I couldnt get into the dedicated FasTrak lanes so I just went into a cash lane. Well when I got to the booth, I waved my transponder to the lady and she said I had to pay cash...why the heck are the lanes marked cash/fastrak then?
2) Before the tolls, you have those overhead signs telling you which lanes are Fastrak and which are cash. Well sometimes the lettering lights up brighter and then goes back to normal. Each one of them does this, but I dont see a dicernable pattern. Anybody know why they do that? Perhaps it tells you which lane is open?

I thought you could just drive straight through. Don't think you would even need to stop to show her you have FasTrak. At least that's what my friend tells me (everyday commuter across bridge).

i agree with everybody .. it might have just been a 1 time thing ...
with a FASTRAK ... u dont even have to glue it on your windshield or anything .. u can leave it in your glove and the sensor will read it ..

you don't even need to show or tell her. just drive through. the speed limit to register the fast track is 25. if your fast track doesnt register they have your plate number on record anyways. that lady is just trying to nickle and dime you.

yeah I dont have it glued to my windshield, I just hold it up whenever I pass and it usually doesnt beep but w/e.
I usually make it into the fastrak lanes, but not that time. Guess I will try again.
Nobody knows the answer to the second question huh? lol Guess you might have to work for caltrans to get that one

I just drive straight thru, even if the transponder doesnt go off, they have it in the systems if your plate is registered. I dont even bother to roll down my window. Fastrak will automatically deduct it from your account.
